Threadfin Shad
Shad are an excellent source of forage for farm ponds and lakes. Size ranges from 1-7 inches. A load of shad consist of 7-10,000 fish and a single load will treat up to a ten acre pond. They benefit the whole fish population. Bass have an alternate food source that is readily available throughout all the life stages. Bluegill have the pressure taken off of them so they can sustain a healthy population which is the life blood of all farm ponds. The reproduction from shad feeds all fish in the pond and they will reproduce multiple times over the spring and summer months. If you want super healthy bass to catch in your pond you need to stock shad.
